About enemas and colon cleansing

The state of the digestive system can have a major impact on other parts of the body and its functions, including the immune system, detoxification organs and systems, nutrient absorption and metabolism (to name a few).

To support the health of the digestive tract, it can be helpful to regularly remove deposits and debris from the colon – particularly where there is a back-up in the system and/or where sticky, hardened deposits have formed in the pockets and along the walls of the bowel (which can accumulate over time as a result of fermentation and putrefaction from poor diet, poor hydration and partially digested foods).

What is an enema?

An enema is a painless process in which water or gas is inserted into the rectum and colon via the anus to expel their contents. Enemas can therefore be thought of as a form of colon cleanser that involves the use of equipment.

They are particularly useful as part of a cleanse and detox program, because they can help to rid the body of any toxins, parasites and waste matter that have accumulated in the colon over time – particularly if your diet is high in refined foods, saturated fats, sugar and lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables.
